Entry Level - Diamond Drill Offsider

Barminco is experiencing significant growth in our Australian operations and are currently seeking applications for Underground Diamond Driller’s Assistants located in West Wyalong NSW.

These entry level positions require you to provide unwavering support to the Diamond Driller in the day-to-day operation of the drill rig. 

 

These positions will be on either:

 

  • 7 day on, 7 day off, 7 nights on, 7 days off rotation (those local to Forbes and West Wylong). Drive in and out daily from either Forbes or West Wylong NSW, Transport is provided  
  • 14 day / 14 off / 14 nights / 14 off roster (those that will be DIDO to West Wylong for the roster entirety, with accomodation provided) to be considered for these roles you must live within 250km of West Wylong.

 

Upon commencing as a Diamond Driller’s Assistant, you will be enrolled in a nationally recognised Certificate II in Drilling Operations, taking 18 months to complete. Once you have your Certificate II, we will enrol you in a Certificate III in Drilling Operations. All of this is provided to you with industry-leading training and expert trainers, to enable your development into becoming an industry leading underground exploration diamond driller, fast tracking your earning potential.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handling inner tubes to retrieve core and empty into core trays;
  •  Repetitive heavy lifting of >20kgs;
  • Housekeeping and maintenance of equipment, ensuring all workspaces are clean, including washing the LV at end of shift;
  • Identify potential hazards and communicate immediately to the Driller or Supervisor;

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Local Residential Address in West Wyalong/Forbes or located within a 250km radius of West Wylong at the time of application.
  • Current Australian manual driver's licence;
  • National Police Clearance (within 3 months of issue);
  • Clear ability to speak, read, write in fluent English;
  • A proactive attitude toward safety and hazard identification;
  • Ability to work 12-hour night or day shift work.
  • Mechanically minded and excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screen;
  • A positive work ethic in line with Barminco’s vision and principles;
     

Highly Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a drillers assist surface or underground drilling operations;
  • First Aid Certificate;
  • Previous experience in labour intensive, physical role;
