Superintendent Trade Training

Are you passionate about developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople? Barminco is seeking an experienced Superintendent – Trade Training (Apprentices) to lead the coordination and delivery of our apprenticeship program across underground maintenance operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Manager, you will design, implement, and oversee our apprenticeship program, ensuring apprentices in mechanical and electrical trades (HD Fitters, Auto Electricians, Boilermakers and more) receive structured training, mentoring, and exposure to industry best practice.

This role is critical in building a strong pipeline of qualified tradespeople to support our current and future maintenance requirements, while fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning, and execution of Barminco’s apprenticeship program.

• Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to apprentices, supervisors, and mentors.

• Build strong partnerships with TAFEs, training providers, and industry bodies.

• Oversee structured training plans, rotations, and competency progression.

• Monitor performance, providing timely support and interventions as required.

• Drive apprentice retention and successful transition to qualified trades.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and training requirements.

• Champion safety, inclusion, and engagement across the program.

What We’re Looking For

• Recognised trade qualification (Mechanical or Electrical).

• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable).

• Experience in maintenance supervision within underground mining or heavy industry.

• Strong knowledge of apprenticeship frameworks and training compliance.

• Proven leadership, mentoring, and coaching ability.

• Organised, proactive, and outcome-focused with excellent communication skills.
