Leading Hand Stores

6 Month Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

Are you the kind of person who keeps the stores area moving, knows where everything is, and can bring calm, structure and direction to a busy warehouse environment?

BTP is looking for a practical, switched-on Leading Hand to join our Stores team and help keep our operations running smoothly. This is a 6 month temp-to-perm opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, supporting others and taking ownership of daily stores activity.

This role would suit an experienced Storeperson, Senior Storeperson, Warehouse Operator or Leading Hand who is ready to step up, lead by example and play an important role in supporting our workshop and operational teams.

About the Role

As our Leading Hand, you will be the person helping to coordinate the day-to-day flow of work across the stores and warehouse area.

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, you will help allocate tasks, set daily priorities, support the team and make sure goods, parts and stock are received, stored, picked, packed and dispatched safely and accurately.

This is not a desk-only role. You will be on the floor, close to the action, working with the team, solving problems, keeping things organised and making sure internal customers get what they need, when they need it.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be responsible for helping the stores team stay safe, organised and on track.

Your day will include:

  • Coordinating daily workload, priorities and task allocation for the Stores team.
  • Supporting pre-starts, toolbox discussions and safety conversations.
  • Leading by example and promoting safe work practices across the warehouse.
  • Receiving, checking, storing, picking, packing, issuing and dispatching goods.
  • Managing stock movements, supplier returns, credit returns and inventory processes.
  • Supporting stocktakes, cycle counts and inventory checks.
  • Loading and unloading trucks, courier vehicles and supplier deliveries.
  • Operating forklifts, reach trucks and warehouse equipment safely.
  • Keeping paperwork, documentation and system transactions accurate and up to date.
  • Using Pronto and other systems to support accurate stock and warehouse records.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised stores environment.
  • Communicating with workshop teams, supervisors, suppliers, couriers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coaching and supporting team members to follow process and meet expectations.
  • Identifying delays, stock issues or process improvements and escalating where required.

About You

You will be a reliable, organised and safety-focused stores professional who enjoys keeping things moving and supporting a team to do the job well.

You will bring:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in stores, warehousing, logistics, inventory control, supply or a similar environment.
  • Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Team Leader, Senior Storeperson or in a role where you have coordinated work for others.
  • A current forklift licence.
  • A current driver’s licence.
  • Reach truck experience, highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of receiving, picking, packing, dispatch, stock control and inventory accuracy.
  • Experience with stocktakes, cycle counts and warehouse processes.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Pronto experience, or experience using warehouse, inventory or ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in getting things right the first time.
  • The ability to stay organised when priorities change.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with different teams across the business.
  • A positive, team-focused attitude and a willingness to lead by example.

Experience in mining, heavy equipment, transport, industrial or workshop-based environments will be highly regarded.
