Ausdrill is currently seeking an experienced Learning & Development Specialist for a newly created role within the HSEQ&T team. Reporting to the Quality & Training Lead, you will lead the design, governance, and continuous improvement of Ausdrill’s enterprise-wide learning and development framework to ensure a competent, safe and future-ready workforce. The Learning and Development Specialist leverages advanced systems, data analytics, and strategic planning to enable operational performance, meet statutory and ISO requirements, and drive a learning culture aligned with Ausdrill’s business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementation of Ausdrill’s learning and development strategy, ensuring alignment with WHS legislation, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001), and business priorities.
  • Lead the operationalisation of workforce capability development through end-to-end training lifecycle management, including strategic needs analysis, program design, blended delivery, and impact assessment.
  • Drive consistency and quality across site-based training by mentoring field trainers, conducting assurance checks, and ensuring national compliance coverage.
  • Champion the use of digital training technologies, particularly the INX suite (Intuition, LMS, Assessor App), to automate processes, generate real-time insights, and enhance user experience.
  • Administer governance and data integrity protocols within INX platforms; oversee system enhancements, data workflows, online learning content, and stakeholder onboarding.
  • Design and implement a competency assurance model to validate critical skills, support task authorisations, and prepare the workforce for future operational demands.
  • Develop and implement metrics dashboards, KPIs, and training analytics to support decision-making, identify trends, and drive proactive interventions.
  • Facilitate INX-related projects and serve as the primary liaison with INX support and internal system owners to ensure optimal platform performance.
  • Coordinate induction and onboarding compliance across employee and contractor groups, tracking completion and operational readiness in real-time.
  • Oversee external training provider relationships, ensuring training quality, commercial efficiency, and compliance with RTO standards where applicable.
  • Actively participate in internal and external audits; provide evidence of training compliance and support audit close-out activities.
  • Collaborate with operational, HSE, and HR leaders to identify emerging skills gaps and implement agile, fit-for-purpose learning solutions.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and behavioural safety through structured training campaigns and leadership development alignment.
  • Promote a strong learning culture that reinforces safety, operational performance, and professional growth.

 

About You:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a training, capability, or L&D role within a high-risk, operational, or resources environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of WHS legislation, ISO frameworks, and VET sector/RTO standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (INX platform highly desirable), including administration, reporting, and integration.
  • Proven experience in leading training programs from strategy through execution, with a focus on compliance and competency assurance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of influencing across all levels of the business.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to innovation, system optimisation, and continuous improvement.

 

Education, Qualifications & Training:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 or successor) – Desirable
  • Qualifications in Business, Education, Safety, or Human Resources – Desirable
  • INX platform experience or vendor training – Highly Desirable
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards and WHS legislation – Essential
