We are currently seeking a suitably experienced Inductions Trainer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Operational Training Superintendent, the purpose of this role is to coordinate and deliver training programs for both new-to-industry entrants and experienced underground miners. The role ensures all new starters are suitably trained and assessed prior to mobilisation to site.
Working closely with operational leaders, site trainers and equipment operators, the Trainer supports both off-site and on-site training activities to ensure training programs align with operational requirements, safety standards, and business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver pre-mobilisation inductions and common core training for all new-to-business employees.
- Facilitate simulator-based training for underground mobile mining equipment, ensuring trainees understand operational expectations and relevant KPIs.
- Ensure personnel have a thorough understanding of safety, operational, and environmental considerations relevant to underground mining.
- Review and contribute to the development of training materials and assessment documentation, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and currency.
- Ensure all training activities utilise the correct and current documentation.
- Actively participate in the development and continuous improvement of training tools, scenarios, and delivery methods.
- Provide tailored training solutions to support operational and business requirements.
- Accurately record and maintain all training and assessment documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist site operations with risk management processes, including the development and review of JSAs and risk assessments.
- Facilitate on-site inductions to ensure all employees, contractors, client personnel, and visitors comply with site requirements.
Key Requirements:
- Demonstrated underground mining operational experience, including operation of underground mobile mining equipment.
- Proven ability to mentor and train employees with little or no operating experience, supporting the development of strong situational awareness, safety focus, and operational competence.
- Ability to adapt training delivery to suit diverse learning styles, while supporting inclusion across gender, cultural, and disability considerations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally at all levels of the organisation.
- Sound knowledge of relevant Mining Legislation, Acts, Regulations, and Standards applicable to operator training.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) with two or more years’ experience in a mining-related training role, or willingness to obtain the qualification within a reasonable timeframe (desirable).
- Experience delivering simulator-based training, ensuring efficient use of time while achieving effective learning outcomes (desirable).
- Experience facilitating training using Virtual Reality (VR) technology (desirable).
- Knowledge of AQTF requirements, including mapping training programs to nationally recognised units of competency (desirable).
