If you are the kind of Hydraulic Fitter who takes pride in doing the job properly the first time, actually enjoys fault finding and gets frustrated watching shortcuts happen around you… keep reading.
BTP is looking for an experienced Hydraulic Fitter / Mechanic for our Hazelmere workshop, who knows their way around heavy mining equipment and hydraulic systems and wants to work somewhere that values quality workmanship, strong team culture and people who genuinely know what they are doing.
This is not a production-line rebuild role where you are treated like a number.
This is a hands-on position working on large-scale mining and earthmoving equipment where your experience, attention to detail and mechanical ability genuinely matter.
You will be trusted to assess, diagnose, rebuild and test hydraulic cylinders to a high standard while working alongside a team that backs each other and takes pride in the quality of work leaving the workshop.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will include:
- Stripping down and rebuilding hydraulic cylinders used on heavy mining equipment
- Diagnosing faults instead of simply replacing parts
- Measuring, inspecting and assessing component wear and damage
- Testing rebuilt cylinders and ensuring everything is operating properly before dispatch
- Reading technical drawings and specifications without needing your hand held
- Working closely with the workshop team to keep jobs moving safely and efficiently
- Supporting honing, chroming, paint prep and final assembly activities
- Maintaining high workshop standards, quality control and safety expectations
This role suits someone who likes getting stuck into real mechanical work and enjoys the satisfaction of seeing a job completed properly from start to finish.
About You
You are probably already working in mining, hydraulics, heavy equipment, fixed plant or a similar mechanical environment and you know exactly how important reliability and attention to detail are in this game.
You will ideally have:
- Mechanical Trade Qualification
- Experience rebuilding and testing hydraulic cylinders
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Forklift Licence
- Strong safety mindset and workshop awareness
- Pride in your workmanship and standards
- A team-first attitude with a solid work ethic
Bonus points if you have:
- Dogging Licence
- Exposure to Caterpillar equipment or SIS systems
- Experience working in mining or heavy earthmoving environments
Why BTP?
Because good tradespeople deserve better than average workshops.
At BTP, you will work with a business that supports major mining operations across Australia while still maintaining a strong team culture where people know your name and your work is respected.
We offer:
- Competitive rates + overtime available
- Long-term career opportunities across the Perenti Group
- Modern workshop facilities and quality tooling
- A genuinely supportive team environment
- Leadership that understands the trade
- Employee benefits, discounts and wellbeing support
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- The "Share $8K with a Mate" referral program
- Stability with a business that continues to grow nationally
Most importantly, you will be joining a team where quality work still means something.
If you are tired of workshops where standards are low, communication is poor and good workers go unnoticed, this could be the change you have been looking for.
