About the Role
BTP is looking for a skilled and safety-driven HD Plant Mechanic to join our Equipment Workshop, working on a wide range of heavy mining plant and support equipment.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys working to OEM standards and values being part of a professional, team-focused workshop environment. You will be responsible for repairs, overhauls and maintenance across a diverse fleet, ensuring equipment is returned to service safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will be supported by strong leadership, clear systems, and a business that genuinely values safety, reliability and doing the job right the first time. What you will be working on:
- Mining and earthmoving equipment including CAT, Komatsu and Hitachi
- Road transport and support equipment including Volvo, Mack, MAN and Isuzu
- Workshop-based maintenance, repairs and component overhauls
- Safe systems of work, risk assessments and quality documentation
This is a hands-on role within a workshop that values accountability, teamwork and pride in craftsmanship.
Key Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A relevant Trade Certificate as a Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic
- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy mining plant and equipment
- Strong knowledge of OEM standards and safe work practices
- Forklift licence (required)
- Dogging licence or higher (highly regarded)
- Current “C” Class driver’s licence
- Commitment to workplace safety, risk management and hazard reporting
- Ability to complete accurate job documentation, timesheets and reports
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Willingness to participate in safety meetings, training and mentoring apprentices
- Capacity to meet all pre-employment medical, functional and drug and alcohol requirements
- Flexibility to work night shift when required
