Ausdrill forms part of the Perenti Group, a diversified global mining services company, and is one of the largest drilling service providers in Australia founded in Kalgoorlie in 1987. The Perenti Group operates across a wide range of mining sectors and offers unique career progression opportunities.

Are you ready to start a hands-on, well-paid career in the mining industry? Join Ausdrill as a Drillers Offsider and take the first step towards becoming a qualified Driller!

Our entry-level Drillers Offsiders work alongside experienced Drillers, helping to operate drill rigs, set up sites, collect samples, and handle essential tasks such as mixing drilling fluids and maintaining equipment. You'll gain valuable experience and develop practical skills while working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

What’s on Offer?

  • A 2/1 roster can be a mix of day and night shifts, working 12 hours
  • A fully supported traineeship program leading to formal qualifications (Cert II, III, and IV in Drilling Operations)
  • A supportive, collaborative work environment where you're part of a team that has your back
  • Long-term career opportunities with pathways into HSE, training, leadership, and supervisory roles
  • Paid flights to and from site
  • Accommodation, meals, laundry, and transport provided—no need to worry about daily expenses
  • On-site facilities, including gyms, swimming pools, squash and tennis courts, and even virtual reality golf driving ranges
  • Roster designed for work-life balance – 7 days off to relax, travel, or spend time with family and friends
  • Financial benefits – save money while working (less spending on bills, fuel, and groceries)
  • Exclusive employee perks, including discounts on health insurance, entertainment, travel, retail, and complimentary tickets to sports and entertainment events
  • Emergency hygiene packs for women on site, ensuring you have what you need when you need it

Challenges You Should Be Prepared For

  • Being away from home – FIFO work requires adaptability, but you'll have scheduled time off to recharge
  • Long, physically demanding shifts – drilling involves manual labour, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors
  • Hot, dusty, and remote conditions – some sites are up to 1.5 hours from camp, with plenty of flies and tough terrain
  • Adjusting to FIFO life – it can take time to build resilience and get used to the roster and physical demands

But here’s the good news—drilling is a highly rewarding career that opens up a world of opportunities in the mining and resources industry!
