Human Resources Advisor

 

The HR Advisor role reports to the HR Manager and works closely with Senior HR Business Partners, supporting operational portfolios that collectively span more than 2,000 employees across the Contract Mining business.

As a trusted advisor, you will play a key role across the entire employee lifecycle, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, organisational development, and HR initiatives across multiple operational sites.

 

What will your day to day look like? 

Business Partnering

  • Build strong partnerships with site leaders and develop a deep understanding of operational requirements.
  • Support HR Business Partners in analysing workforce trends and recommending practical solutions.
  • Contribute to engagement, psychosocial risk, retention, and culture improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects across the HR function.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Provide practical advice on employee relations matters, including industrial instruments, policies, and procedures.
  • Support leaders through performance management, disciplinary, investigation, PIP, and show cause processes.
  • Coach managers on effective workplace conversations and documentation.
  • Monitor legislative and industrial relations developments and identify potential business impacts.

Workforce & Organisational Development

  • Support annual performance review processes and leadership capability initiatives.
  • Assist with site mobilisations, demobilisations, and organisational change activities.
  • Partner with Organisational Development specialists to deploy targeted people programs across sites.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and deliver meaningful workforce reports and insights for operational stakeholders.
  • Analyse people data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that drive informed decision-making.

Reward & Remuneration

  • Support remuneration review activities and role benchmarking processes.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitor research.
  • Assist with ensuring employee rates and conditions remain compliant with relevant industrial instruments.

 

Our ideal candidate background includes

Experience

  • Previous HR experience across the employee lifecycle, ideally within mining, resources, construction, manufacturing, or other blue-collar industries.
  • Experience providing operational HR and employee relations support.
  • Exposure to investigations, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
  • Experience partnering with leaders in a fast-paced operational environment.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business, or a related discipline (preferred).

Skills

  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex information clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability.
  • Excellent attention to detail while maintaining a commercial mindset.
