We are seeking an experienced underground Mine Foreman to work on a 6:4 roster at our newly appointed Project in Senegal, West Africa. With a strong focus on training the national workforce. Located in West Africa, our client is a large-scale gold mining operation with a strong focus on safety, production performance, and workforce development. Candidates will be working in a multicultural environment with a mix of expatriate and national employees, supporting ongoing underground expansion and production targets.
Duties involved in the role:
- Plans and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in underground mining activities.
- Reviews data, such as schedules, plans, survey reports, and geological records, and consults with engineering, maintenance, and supervisory personnel to plan and direct mine development.
- Adheres to mining laws and safety regulations, and issues directives to workers to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.
- Reviews and consolidates records, such as, safety reports, and production records.
- Supervision of Underground Shift Supervisors and provide direction and assistance with planning of mining activities in accordance with the Mines Act & relevant Safety and Environmental regulations.
- Liaise with appropriate client contact ensuring expectations are realistic and projected targets are achieved safely and to specifications.
- Act as Relief /Alternate Site Manager during their absence, adhering to agreed schedules, programs, and targets.
- Coordinates manpower, roster preparation, annual leave scheduling and assist with employment / deployment of workforce.
Our ideal candidate background includes
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Underground Mine Foreman role.
- Have a current WA Underground Shift Supervisors Ticket OR similar.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Underground Hard Rock Mining with minimum of 4 years in foreman or superintendent role executing high productivity underground Mining Contracts of minimum value USD $100 Million.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Current Manual Drivers Licence and ability to obtain an International Licence.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Ability to work in remote, international environments.
- Experience in Africa or other developing regions highly regarded.
- Ability to adapt to rostered expatriate lifestyle.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven experience training national personnel to a high standard.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
