We are seeking experienced underground Jumbo Trainers to work on a 4:4 roster at our newly appointed Project in Senegal, West Africa. With a strong focus on training the national workforce. This challenging and rewarding role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to further develop your career and work alongside experienced industry professionals in a safe, dynamic and outcome focused environment.
Duties involved in the role:
- Accurately drill a number of drive drill patterns using a mechanised electric/Hydraulic Jumbo drill suitable to ground conditions and in compliance with site specific drill patterns and survey instruction.
- Assess ground conditions at the face and implement ground control according to site requirements.
- Read and accurately follow mining instruction plan with skill and precision ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient, and profile.
- Communicate with surveyors, geologists and engineers as required.
- Optimise drill patterns to ensure maximum advance per round is achieved whilst maintaining strict adherence to design specifications.
- Ensure work area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform working duties including ensuring electrical installations and services are clear of the drilling area.
Our ideal candidate background includes
- Strong background in underground hard rock mining (essential)
- 5 years minimum experience as a Jumbo Operator
- Experience operating the Sandvik DD22i Drills or similar.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Ability to work in remote, international environments.
- Experience in Africa or other developing regions highly regarded
- Ability to adapt to rostered expatriate lifestyle Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven experience training personnel to a high standard.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
