We are actively seeking suitably qualified applicants to fill the role of Charge Up on 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off roster. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective transfer of skills and knowledge to National Development and Production Charge-up personnel in the scaling, preparation and charging of jumbo development rounds, stripping, Longhole stopes, one-shot Longhole rises, vertical crater retreat and up and down holes in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.

 

Ensuring that a high level of training is delivered to National employees, emphasising productivity and the technical aspects of the role whilst maintaining safety as the imperative. Lead by example in the following.

 

  • Re-entry of blasted headings according to regulations and procedures ensuring ventilation adequate and dust suppression is implemented correctly.
  • Scaling of headings as required.
  • Uses a variety of explosives and initiating systems, depending on the drill pattern, rock type and charge plans.
  • Handling and transport of explosives in a safe manner according to regulations and procedures.
  • Charging development drive cuts using blow loaded ANFO, emulsion, low impact explosives and electric and non-electric initiating systems.
  • Charge up and fire stope blasts according to blast plan using emulsion, electronic, electric, and non-electric initiating systems.
  • Ensure working area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform duties.  This includes but is not limited to, check scaling or rehabilitation, ensuring lanyards and other fall-arrest equipment are in good order and used when required.
  • Liaises with Foremen, Engineers, and Shift Supervisors to optimise blast designs.
  • Minimum of 5 years – experience in underground mining in a high productivity underground contracting mining environment. .
  • At least 3 years in a similar role with demonstrated experience charging development rounds, Longhole stopes and rises and VCR of downhole rises, slots and passes.
  •  The safe and efficient operation of integrated tool carriers as used in charging operations and Normet 1610B charge up machines.

A full pre-employment medical is required, including a drug and alcohol, and site-specific clearances. A National Police Clearance and any necessary tickets or qualifications are required to be presented at time of interview.
