The Opportunity:
Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Underground Lead Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team underground at our client Barrick’s Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario.
- Rotations of 14 shifts on (days and nights), 14 days off
- Open to residents of Canada
- Travel assistance, camp accommodations and meals provided
Reporting to the Maintenance Foreperson, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers. You will be required to work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.
More specifically, our Maintenance Lead Hand / Heavy Duty Mechanic will:
- Working as directed to maximise Mining Productivity and minimise equipment down-time;
- Ensuring Quality Control Inspections are carried out on all equipment before leaving workshop;
- Ensuring that all Workshop Tooling and Equipment is in a Safe and Serviceable condition;
- Conducting Workplace Inspection and ensuring everyone is adhering to all Safety Work Practices and Procedures;
- Conducting Pre-Shift meetings and delegating job tasks;
- Assisting with Training and mentoring team members.
Skills and Experience:
- Commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others;
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalency;
- Ontario Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician trade license required (421A);
- Red Seal Certification is preferred;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a lead-hand or supervisor role in a fast-paced underground mine environment;
- Supervisor Common Core is preferred;
- Strong background working on state of the art underground mobile mining equipment such as Sandvik, Normet, Volvo, Caterpillar and MacLean;
- Previous experience in managing scheduled servicing, repairs and breakdowns on underground mining equipment;
- Strong communication, organizational and time management skills;
- An ability to work autonomously in a multi-cultural work environment;
- A Willingness to share knowledge and have an open mind to learning new skills.
