The Opportunity: 

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for an experienced underground Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team at the Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario.

Working a 14-days on with 14-days off rotation, this position is a "drive in/drive out" role.

Reporting to the Project Manager and HSE Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of day-to-day safety initiatives. These may include, but not limited to job observations, safety audits, risk assessments and hazard identifications, emergency response, other tasks as required.

The candidate will be well-versed in Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act. R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 854. Mines and Mining Plants.

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Health and Safety role in an underground environment.
• Underground Mining Front Line Supervisor Common Core Certification is required
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Proven ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, fostering collaboration and inclusivity.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and drive a positive safety culture.
• Experience with Safety Management Database systems, with proficiency in INX software considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Teams, is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and data management skills to support safety initiatives.
• Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), designation preferred.
• Working at heights (WAH), Train the Trainer Certificate
• Experience in Underground Mine Rescue is highly desirable.
