The Opportunity: Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Warehouseperson to join our team at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off.
Reporting to the Project Manager or designate, the successful candidate will be responsible for the receipt, secure storage, and proper issue of materials and supplies required for operations. They are expected to develop and possess a good working knowledge of inventory control systems, related computer programs, warehouse audits and reviews, client services and interaction, and period and year-end inventory audits. Performing the assigned tasks while meeting safety standards, targets and deadlines to maximize productivity and profitability.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Demonstrate commitment to adhere to all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others
- Unload inbound trucks, inspect and receive inbound materials against invoices/purchase orders; recording shortages and rejecting damaged goods
- Put materials away into appropriate storage locations, according to sequence and coding, and report receiving to order originator
- Handle internal inquiries and provide assistance in locating materials
- Perform inventory cycle counting, ensuring accurate counts, manage stock levels (min/max) and issue stock using a computerized system (Pronto)
- Inform supervisor of potential production material problems, including delay in shipment
- Coordinate deliveries and pickups with logistics teams - preparing bills of lading, invoices and other shipping documents
- Packing goods to be shipped off site
- Complete documentation for returned materials
- Issue stock, maintain stock levels
- Manage and maintain ground support orders with the Fore Person and assist with ground support transfer to Boxcut as needed
- Practice good general housekeeping in the work area and equipment
- Other duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as required
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
- Interprovincial Red Seal Parts Technician (Warehouseperson) certification, an asset
- 2-3 years’ experience working in warehousing/inventory management; in an industrial or mine setting would be preferred
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience is a requirement
- Valid forklift certification is preferred
- Ability and willingness to operate heavy machinery with appropriate on-site training
- Proficiency in computer software (e.g., MS Office, ERP systems like Pronto, SAP, Sage) and strong inventory control knowledge.
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Strong communications skills and good radio etiquette,
- Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
- Be flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as required
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly
- The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential
- Eagerness to learn and grow
Work Conditions
- Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
- Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
- Extreme weather conditions
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
