The Opportunity:  Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Planner at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia.  Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off (12 hour days).

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman or designate, the Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in coordinating and optimizing equipment upkeep by designing proactive work packages, managing spare parts, and scheduling tasks.

 

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Demonstrate and enforce a strong commitment to following all Mine site safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Create detailed step-by-step instructions, scopes of work, and safety permits for repair and preventive tasks.
  • Identify, order, and kit the exact spare parts, specialized tools, and labor needed before a job starts.
  • Input, track, and update equipment history, work orders, and asset data inside the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Communicate between operations, procurement, and maintenance teams to align repairs with production goals.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic or Automotive Service Technician certification considered a strong asset.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and standard maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to sequence tasks logically, forecast material needs, and manage backlogs.
  • Possess strong computer skills and experience navigating CMMS software platforms, experience with Pronto preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment.
  • High degree of professionalism, self-motivation, and eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Proven ability to follow verbal and written instructions, with good radio etiquette and strong communication skills.
  • Able to effectively prioritize workload and manage backlogs to ensure deadlines are met.

 

Work Conditions

  • Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation 
  • Frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
  • Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions and a moderate-to-high noise level in the work environment.
