The Opportunity: Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for Cable Bolt Operators at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off (12 hour days).
Reporting to the Project Manager or designate, the Cable Bolt Operator plays a critical role in supporting safe and productive underground development activities through the installation of high-quality ground support systems. This position is responsible for operating cable bolting equipment, installing cable bolts, maintaining equipment, and contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of underground operations.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Operate a DS422i to drill and install cement-grouted cable bolts in underground environments while managing the onboard automated grout mixing and delivery systems.

- Take ownership of the cable bolting process by ensuring all required materials, consumables, and equipment are prepared and available prior to the start of each shift.
- Participate in grout quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) sampling and testing processes to maintain ground support standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities, promptly reporting any defects or mechanical concerns.
- Complete thorough pre-operational inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure equipment reliability and safe operation.
- Apply underground mining knowledge and experience to consistently uphold site safety systems, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with development crews and other site personnel, demonstrating strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture by identifying hazards, reporting incidents, and actively participating in risk management processes.
Position Requirements
- The ideal candidate will have experience as an Underground Cable Bolt operator with experience running a Sandvik DS422i, or similar
- Strong understanding of ground support requirements, best practices and applicable safety regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Able and willing to complete other duties as assigned such as: vent and services installation, underground scoop operation, development blasting activities, and other duties as assigned.
- A valid and full Canadian Drivers Licence
Work Conditions
- Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis, typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off, working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
- Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
