The Opportunity: Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has new exciting opportunities for Batch Plant Supervisor at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Batch Plant Supervisor is responsible for safely and efficiently managing daily shotcrete/concrete production, ensuring quality standards, safety compliance, and efficient operations. They oversee personnel, maintain machinery, manage raw material inventory (cement, aggregates, dust, additives, etc), and coordinate dispatch. This hands-on role involves troubleshooting technical issues, running computerized batching software, and optimizing production schedules.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Safety & Compliance:

- Demonstrate and enforce strict adherence to all Mine site safety rules, policies, procedures and regulations.
- Perform the daily supervision of the working areas of the batch plant in accordance with all relevant Acts and Regulations and Barminco’s and our clients’ policies, procedures, work instructions and standards
Production & Operations: Oversee all aspects of the batching process, ensuring timely delivery to meet project schedules.
Quality Control:
- Perform and monitor mix designs, perform tests (e.g., slump, moisture, air entrainment) to ensure batches meet specifications and quality requirements (QA/QC). Reporting any quality control issues.
- Document reports detailing work performed, for example: log batches, production volumes, materials used, batch adjustments and QA/QC performed (core panels sprayed, cube samples taken, slump measurements, etc)
Equipment Maintenance:
- Work with Maintenance Department on all preventative maintenance of the mixer/batch plant - immediately reporting problems/failures that may impact the team, or the company.
- Ensure daily maintenance, housekeeping and safety checks of equipment are performed to a high standard
Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels of raw materials, including tracking, ordering and scheduling deliveries for cement, aggregates, and additives.
Staff Management: Supervise, train and mentor operators to work safely, efficiently and effectively
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
- 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory position in the mining or construction industry
- Preference will be given to those with a chemical engineering/technician background
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience required
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of concrete batching technology, mix designs, equipment, material properties, and safety protocols is required
- Ability to train and develop others to a high standard, ensuring a willingness and ability to ensure that procedures are understood and followed by the employees they will be training/supervising
- Effective and respectful communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization, both verbal and written
- Demonstrate strong computer skills and proficiency with batching software
- Ability to analyze, resolve problems and make decisions in a logical and effective manner
- Ability to be organized while simultaneously managing multiple job assignments
- Strong commitment to be a team player, build trust, be accountable and hold crews accountable
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism, leadership, and self-motivation
- Able to effectively prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met

Work Conditions
- Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis, typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
- Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
- Extreme weather conditions
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
