The Opportunity: Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Site Administrator to join our team at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off.
Reporting to the Project Manager or designate, the successful candidate is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support, ensuring that services are provided in an effective and efficient manner while performing the assigned tasks while meeting safety standards, targets and deadlines to maximize productivity and profitability.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Compliance with all Barminco HSE policies and procedure, Occupational Health and Safety legislation and all relevant site-specific client generated policies and procedures.
- Coordinate office activities and operations to ensure efficiency and compliance to company policies and procedures.
- Manage rosters, flights (including commercial travel through Corporate Travel database, if necessary), accommodations and travel movements for all personnel, including keeping all manpower personal information up to date.
- Accurate data entry and word-processing with MS Office applications and other specific software, such as: MinRep, INX, Aconex, Workflow.
- Daily data entry of payroll hours, timecards.
- Support HR/Safety with on-site orientations, onboarding and employee engagement programs, when required.
- Assist Supervisory, Health & Safety, and Management Staff in maintaining document and information databases, logs, filing systems and records, as required.
- Assist in transporting workers around site and potentially off-site, as required.
- Direct Mine Dry Attendant(s) in the duties and responsibilities of their position.
- Track office stationery and supplies inventory; place orders when necessary.
- Direct employees and general public to the appropriate staff member(s).
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment as/where required.
- Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with employees, subcontractors and all personnel at all times.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of the position. This includes protecting the privacy of personal information when collecting, holding, using or disclosing information.
- Assist in keeping and maintaining a clean working environment in the office.
- Other duties may be assigned by your supervisor, as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum High School diploma, College Diploma in Business Administration is preferred.
- 2+ years administrative experience, preferably in an industrial camp setting.
- Must maintain a valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
- Must have physical and mental ability to withstand long hours in a strenuous and potentially high hazard work environment.
- Effective and respectful communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization, both verbal and written.
- Highly proficient in the use of MS Office Suite programs, specifically Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Proficient in the use of a variety of general office equipment and skilled at typing at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
- Ability to analyze, resolve problems and make decisions in a logical and effective manner.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple job assignments.
- Strong commitment to be a team player, build trust and be accountable.
- The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential.
- Eagerness to learn and grow.
- Successfully pass Fit for Duty pre-employment testing (drug and alcohol screening).
Work Conditions:
- Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift), typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, reach and manipulate objects.
- The position requires mobility.
- Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc., and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Usual office working conditions: noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
- Extreme weather conditions.
