About the Role

DDH1 Drilling is seeking an experienced National Maintenance Manager who will be responsible for leading and overseeing all maintenance operations across both Eastern and Western regions. Reporting directly to the General Managers, this role ensures the effective management of labour, equipment, and assets to maximise utilisation, operational efficiency, safety, and cost control.

 

 

This position can be based in either Perth or Brisbane

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and develop maintenance teams across Australia.
  • Partner with Regional Managers across both regions to define, prioritise, and deliver maintenance requirements aligned with operational targets.
  • Oversee and approve quotations, budgets, cost controls, and scheduling for planned and reactive maintenance for internal and third-party customers nationally.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance for major breakdowns and critical equipment issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a national Preventative Maintenance Program aligned with business objectives and General Manager directives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee major equipment refurbishments and asset life-cycle management strategies.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of repairs and maintenance activities through a standardised work order management system.
  • Lead and support regional maintenance teams to ensure adequate training, resources, and compliance frameworks are in place to maintain a safe and legally compliant working environment.
  • Drive consistency in maintenance standards, processes, and reporting across both East and West regions.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with customers, employees, and key stakeholders to support long-term, profitable growth.
  • Communicate company purpose, objectives, initiatives, values, and policies, ensuring alignment with corporate commitments and leadership expectations.
  • Foster a strong, collaborative culture across regions, encouraging open communication and ensuring field insights are effectively communicated to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with General Managers to achieve national safety, performance, and financial targets.
  • Monitor KPIs relating to asset reliability, utilisation, downtime, maintenance costs, and workforce productivity, implementing corrective actions where required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven senior management and leadership experience leading maintenance and asset management functions at a regional or national level
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience managing budgets and asset strategies.
  • Experience within mining, drilling, heavy industry, or mobile equipment environments highly regarded
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong planning, coordination, and organisational capabilities
  • A proactive, safety-focused mindset
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership capability and a hands-on approach when required.
  • Willingness to travel domestically on a regular basis, and internationally as required.

 

 

Key Competencies and Skills:

  • Experience in maintenance or technical leadership.
  • Trade or tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
