About the position

Due to continued growth, we are seeking applications from experienced Underground Project Engineers to join the Barminco team on a permanent full-time basis on an 8:6 roster. Reporting to the Site Project Manager, you will be responsible for the following tasks

Key Performance Tasks:

  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures & statutory requirements.
  • Ensure mining physicals are achieved as per contract/client schedules.
  • Ensure client requirements are met contractually whilst maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with the client.
  • Use analysis and implementation of cost reduction initiatives.
  • Use analysis and implementation of revenue generating initiatives.
  • Management of Site Finances.
  • Short Term Scheduling of Operations.
  • Production Monitoring.
  • Monthly performance reporting.
  • Quality Assurance programme management.
  • Budget preparation.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly claims and interface with the client.
  • Deputise for the Mine Foreman when requested.


Required Skills:

  • Understanding both equipment and human resource capability and productivities
  • Ability to manage the mining contract and manage mining costs.
  • Ability to communicate and liaise with both employees and client site management.
  • Ability to prepare monthly mining progress claims.
  • Ability to identify potential hazards and minimise risks.
  • Ability to schedule labour.
  • Ability to assess mining working conditions and environment.
  • Understanding the mine reporting system
  • Understanding appropriate statutory and mining regulations
  • Ability to supervise, lead, assess, promote, and educate personnel as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years Underground Mining Experience
  • Underground Supervisors Certificate or 1st Class Mine Managers Certificate
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • A valid Manual Australian Driver’s License
