Are you a CA/CPA qualified Accountant, with prior experience within big four accounting firms and looking for your next opportunity within Commerce? We have an initial, 6-Month contract opportunity for a Group Financial Accountant to join our Corporate Finance Division.

 

Reporting to the Manager - Financial Reporting, you will work with the wider Corporate Finance and Group Accounting teams, to assist in the statutory accounting and reporting process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles and regulatory requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a close, supportive, and inclusive team, with exposure to various areas of technical accounting.

 

Key Accountabilities will include:

 

  • Assisting with month-end reporting and analysis, including key responsibilities of reconciling intercompany from a group perspective and liaising with the key stakeholders in the business to resolve any intercompany balance mismatches.
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements and half-year financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinating external and internal audits.
  • Assisting with the development of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in drafting the technical accounting papers, having researched all technical accounting matters, including compliance with Accounting Standards.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and key contacts in relation to various accounting matters.
  • Undertaking financial analysis where required to understand key movements across the group. 
  • Understanding and providing information for the responses to the ABS surveys.
  • Conducting ad-hoc finance tasks and projects as required. 

 

Key skills and experience required for you to thrive in this role, will include:

 

  • A Tertiary accounting qualification.
  • CA/CPA qualified.
  • Prior audit experience would be beneficial. Ideally, 2-3 years of demonstrated accounting experience in big four accounting firms or up to 3 years’ experience in Corporate or Group accounting roles with demonstrated technical accounting skills and analytical skills.
  • Hands-on experience in accounting and reporting for multinational/multicurrency operations and complex intercompany reconciliations is preferred, though not essential.
  • Previous exposure to SAP and/or Pronto is desirable, though not essential.
  • Experience with using Workiva for financial statement preparation is desirable, though not essential.
  • A keen eye for detail and a meticulous approach to work.
  • Good communication and presentation skills and the ability to communicate to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficient cashflow preparation and understanding skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficient use of Excel (mid to high level proficiency).
  • TM1 experience is preferred, though not essential.
  • Previous consolidation system implementation experience will be highly valued.
